Module 01PD6 M1 Types and care pathways
Differentiate preexisting and gestational diabetes and explain screening versus diagnosis.
120 minutes instruction + 40 minutes independent study.
Topics: Physiology concepts; testing; monitoring; individualized care; stigma and food access; interprofessional roles.
Assignment: Prepare a question list without interpreting results.
Module 02PD6 M2 Practical family support
Create a support plan consistent with clinician and dietitian instructions.
120 minutes instruction + 40 minutes independent study.
Topics: Meals and access; appointments; movement restrictions; medication boundaries; acute symptoms; birth planning.
Assignment: Revise a household plan to remove blame and unsafe treatment advice.
Module 03PD6 M3 Birth feeding and follow up
Identify continuity needs for parent and infant after birth.
120 minutes instruction + 40 minutes independent study.
Topics: Newborn glucose monitoring concepts; early feeding support; separation; postpartum testing; long-term follow-up and referral.
Assignment: Complete a discharge-to-home handoff.
Final assignment
A client wants the doula to reduce insulin because appetite changed.
Materials and preparation
Digital course workbook, scenario pack and assignment templates; access to a device for reading and submitted work. Use fictional or de-identified examples. Faculty assign selected readings within the stated study hours.
